Artist Statement
What occurs within us from moments of intimacy fascinates me. Because of that my work focuses on relationships and our environment. My hope is that through my artwork I can touch and connect with people’s memories, experiences and reflections on life’s relationships with a sense of awe and beauty. I find that by incorporating materials that are so familiar to our daily experiences such as papers, thread and wood my work creates a greater sense of intimacy. My work is also a production of play that happened to bring about something interesting. I stitch, sew, tear, glue, sand away, rip apart, paste back, paint under and over until I reach something that seems to come into its own. Its a process that energizes me because of the emotional connections I am able to share with others.
